Why did OJ Simpson immediately go on the run..if he didnt kill his wife? (what maybe he KNEW about her death?)?

I don't think there is anyone that doesn't think OJ committed the two murders he was found not guilty of. First he was found civilly liable for the deaths and then he wrote a book describing how he did it "if he had done it."
